Difference between shrubs and trees

Leave a message

Both shrubs and trees are woody plants, but there are clear differences between them. Shrubs usually refer to short trees without obvious trunks, growing in clusters, and generally less than 6 meters in height. Most of them are broad-leaved plants, and some coniferous plants are shrubs. The above-ground part of a shrub may die during the winter, but the roots remain alive and continue to sprout new branches the next year. In contrast, trees usually refer to plants with woody trunks and branches that can survive for many years. Trees include trees, shrubs, and woody vines. Trees refer to tall trees with obvious tall trunks, generally between 6 meters and 10 meters in height, and some are even higher. Trees are a general term for woody plants, including many types of plants, such as banyan trees, poplars, willows, cypresses, etc.

The main differences between shrubs and trees are their morphological structure, height, growth pattern, and use. Shrubs are usually short and have no obvious trunks, while trees have obvious tall trunks. The flowers and fruits of shrubs are usually more abundant and varied, including flowers of various colors, while the flowers of trees are more obvious, but not all trees have flowers. In addition, shrubs are mostly used for landscape design, flower beds, and plant hedges, while trees are mostly used for timber production, greening and afforestation, etc.
