Ferocactus peninsulae cactus Special Care or Planting instructions
- Light
It needs plenty of sunlight, at least 6 hours of direct light per day.
When it is maintained indoors, it needs to be placed in a sunny place, such as a south-facing windowsill. If necessary, a growth lamp can be added.
- Water
During the growing season (spring to autumn), the soil needs to be kept dry before watering, and each watering needs to be thoroughly watered.
Reduce the frequency of watering in winter and water once every 6-8 weeks.
- Temperature
It prefers a hot and dry environment, with an ideal temperature of 21°C-35°C.
In winter, the temperature needs to be kept above 15°C, and avoid prolonged exposure to an environment below 10°C.
- Soil
Use well-drained cactus soil, and coarse sand or perlite can be added to enhance air permeability.
- Fertilization
During the growing season (spring), a low-concentration balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) can be applied once, and excessive fertilization should be avoided.
- Reproduction
It can be propagated by seeds. Keep the soil moist when sowing, but avoid waterlogging.
- Repotting
Repotting once every 2-3 years in spring, using a container with drainage holes, and the depth should be enough to accommodate its taproot.
- Pest and disease control
Pay attention to the control of common pests such as scale insects and red spiders, check the plants regularly and keep the environment clean.
