Gymnocalycium anisitsii variegated cactus Special Care or Planting instructions

  • Light

Prefers bright indirect light. Avoid direct strong light in summer to avoid burning the sphere.

When indoor maintenance, it should be placed on a bright windowsill or balcony.

  • Water

Watering should follow the principle of "see dry and see wet", keep the soil slightly moist in summer, and reduce watering in winter.

Avoid water accumulation when watering, and use the "soak and dry" method.

  • Soil

Use well-drained cactus soil, and add perlite or coarse sand to enhance air permeability.

  • Fertilization

Apply diluted cactus fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring to autumn).

  • Temperature

The minimum tolerable temperature is about 7℃, and it may be damaged if it is lower than this temperature.

The temperature should be kept between 10-15℃ in winter to promote dormancy and flowering the following year.

  • Reproduction

It can be propagated by division or seed. When dividing, wait for the mother plant to produce side buds, then cut it off and dry the wound before planting.

Seed propagation needs to be carried out in a warm and humid environment, suitable for sowing in spring.

  • Repotting

Repot every 2-3 years in spring, using shallow and wide containers to support root growth.

  • Pest and disease control

Check the plant regularly for pests such as spider mites or scale insects, and deal with any problems promptly
