Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Oil Painting cactus Special Care or Planting instructions

  • Light

It likes sufficient sunlight but needs to avoid strong direct sunlight, especially for grafted varieties, which need bright diffuse light.

  • Water

It is drought-resistant and needs to be watered with caution. Water once every 2-3 weeks in summer and reduce to once a month in winter. When watering, make sure the soil is completely dry before watering.

  • Temperature

It likes warm climates, and the suitable growth temperature is 21°C to 27°C. It can tolerate slightly lower temperatures at night (15°C to 18°C). Below 10°C may cause frost damage.

  • Soil

Use well-drained cactus soil, and you can add perlite or coarse sand to enhance drainage.

Fertilization: Apply diluted cactus fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring to summer), and no fertilization is required in winter.

  • Reproduction

It can be propagated by division, but grafted varieties need to be re-grafted to grow independently.

  • Pests and diseases

Pests and diseases rarely occur, but care should be taken to avoid root rot caused by excessive watering

  • Notes

If it is a grafted variety (such as the "Moon Shadow Cactus"), make sure the grafted part is tightly connected to avoid separation.

Avoid placing the plant in a humid environment, such as the bathroom.

Reduce watering in winter and keep the temperature stable
