Leaves develop from leaf primordia. The process is: leaf primordia - leaf bud - young leaf - leaf blade. Leaf primordia occur on the side of the growth cone at the tip of the stem. Generally, the initial protrusion is formed by the division of several layers of cells on the surface, and then grows in three directions: length, width, and thickness. However, the growth of thickness starts and stops early, making the leaf primordia flat at an early stage.
