Form: Palmate stem nodes are flat, blue-green, may be sub-round or round, about 12 to 20 cm in diameter

Thorns: The yellow thorns are usually curved, 1-3 cm in length, turn reddish brown or black with age, and can be up to 4.5 cm long. Glochids may become prominent and robust on older stem nodes, reaching a length of up to 1.5 cm

Flower color: Bright yellow flowers bloom in spring to early summer, sometimes with a light red color at the inner base of the flower, about 2 inches (about 5 cm) in diameter.

Fruit: The fruit is red, barrel-shaped, 3-6 cm long, 1.8-4 cm in diameter, containing colorless pulp and yellow seeds.

• Opuntia chlorotica is a succulent shrub or small tree that can reach a height of 2 meters, sometimes forming a single trunk with a diameter of 20 to 30 centimeters.

• Light

Opuntia chlorotica needs plenty of sunlight, but in hot climates, direct sunlight at noon and in the afternoon may cause sunburn, so proper shade is beneficial. When grown indoors, at least 6 hours of sunlight per day is required.

• Soil

This cactus needs well-drained soil. You can use commercially available cactus soil or homemade mixed soil.

• Temperature

Opuntia chlorotica is heat-resistant and relatively cold-resistant. It is suitable for growing in USDA 8b to 11b planting zones, with average winter minimum temperatures ranging from 15°F to 50°F (about -9.4 to 10°C).

• Water

It is better to be dry than wet. Water thoroughly when the soil is dry. Avoid temperatures below 0°C for a long time.

• Fertilization

Cactus does not need frequent fertilization. Apply a thin, decomposed liquid fertilizer every half a month during the growing season.

• Propagation

It can be propagated by cuttings or sowing.
