Morphological characteristics: Consolea moniliformis is a fleshy shrub with broadly obovate, obovate-elliptical or nearly round branches on the upper part, green to blue-green, densely covered with tumors, resembling fish scales, and yellow flowers.

Growing environment: Native to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico's Mona Island, Culebra Island and Desceio Island.

Grows in areas from sea level to about 50 meters above sea level.

Fruit: The fruit is usually oval, orange, and edible, and the size varies depending on the species.
