- Light
Needs full sun exposure and thrives in well-drained cactus soil
- Water
During the summer growing cycle, it needs plenty of water (about once a week). But watering in direct sunlight must be avoided, and wet cacti in the sun may cause sunburn, or even fungal infection and death

Any fertile, well-drained soil is suitable, and should be in full sun all year round

- Propagation
Usually propagated by seeds. Seeds can be sown in spring or summer in well-drained soil for cacti. Cover with fine quartz sand after sowing, keep moist, and place in a greenhouse until germination, after which the covering is gradually removed to receive full light and air
- Cuttings
It can also be propagated by cuttings. Cut any size fragment from the stem, leave it for a few days to form a protective "skin", and then plant it in a pot. Place in a sunny location and do not water until the soil is fairly dry. You can moisten the soil periodically after that, but never keep it constantly saturated.
