Red torch cactus Special Care or Planting instructions

  • Light

This cactus requires full sun and is recommended to be placed within 1 foot of a south-facing window to maximize its growth potential.

  • Water

Echinopsis huascha var. grandiflora prefers dry soil and requires a dry period between waterings, even if it wilts slightly. When watering, water deeply, causing the plant to visibly swell. It should not be exposed to moisture and standing water for long periods of time, and do not allow the cactus to sit in water for long periods of time.

  • Fertilization

During the growing season, monthly fertilization with a balanced fertilizer is recommended for best results.

  • Propagation

It can be propagated by growing daughter plants from the base of the mother plant, cutting the daughter plants as close to the stem as possible. When cutting, allow the fresh cutting to dry slightly on a paper towel, then after a thick or slightly rough opening has formed in the cut, place the cutting in a fast-draining cactus soil
