Anthurium Superbum Bird's Nest Special Care or Planting instructions
- Light
This plant needs full sun, but too much sun can cause sunburn on the leaves, so it needs some protection from the intense midday sun.
- Water
Water regularly during the growing season (spring and summer), but make sure the soil is completely dry between waterings. Reduce watering in the winter.
- Propagation
Propagation by stem cuttings is relatively easy. Cut a stem (about 6 inches long) from an existing plant and let it form a callus before planting, then plant in a well-drained cactus potting mix. Another method is to propagate by seed, which can be a little tricky, so make sure you do your research before trying it.
- Fertilization
Use a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer), but avoid fertilizing in the winter when the plant is dormant.
- Soil
Well-drained soil is preferred, either a commercial cactus mix or a 1:1 mix of regular potting soil with sand, perlite, or pumice.
- Temperature
They prefer warm weather and will not grow well in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
