Gymnocalycium quehlianum cactus Features

Shape: The cactus has a globular, flattened shape, often appearing somewhat depressed at the top. Its body is segmented into 8 to 13 rounded ribs, which are divided by deep furrows. The overall appearance is compact and symmetrical.

Color: The body of the cactus is typically a dull green to bluish-green, with a slightly waxy or matte surface. This coloration helps the plant blend into its natural, rocky surroundings in the wild.

Spines: Gymnocalycium quehlianum is characterized by short, radial spines that are usually white, yellowish, or gray. These spines are relatively soft and not very sharp, making the cactus less intimidating to handle compared to other species. Each areole typically has 5 to 9 spines that curve slightly towards the body.

Flowers: The most striking feature of G. quehlianum is its large, showy flowers, which typically bloom in late spring or summer. The flowers are funnel-shaped and usually white, pale pink, or light cream with a darker pink throat. They can be up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter, which is quite large relative to the size of the plant.

Gymnocalycium quehlianum cactus Size:

  • Potted in a 2"-5" pot
  • The height of the plants and the flower pots can be made to your size.
