Shape: The cactus has a distinctive star-shaped profile when viewed from above, usually with 3 to 7 ribs (most commonly 5). These ribs give the plant a geometric, almost architectural appearance. The ribs are smooth and straight, converging at the top of the plant, and the edges of the ribs may be slightly rounded.
Color: The body of the cactus is a grayish-green to blue-green color, often covered with small, white trichomes (hair-like structures) that give it a slightly frosted or dotted appearance. These trichomes are a signature characteristic of the species, helping to reflect sunlight and reduce water loss.

- Light
Astrophytum myriostigma thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun. While it can handle direct sunlight, particularly in the early morning or late afternoon, it should be protected from intense midday sun, especially in hot climates. Too much direct sunlight can cause the plant to scorch.

Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, which is a common problem with cacti. During the winter months, when the plant is dormant, watering should be reduced or stopped altogether.
- Soil
