Lady Bird Batik Bougainvillea Special Care or Planting instructions
- Light
At least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day is required to ensure brightly colored bracts
- Soil
Fertile, well-drained soil is required with a slightly acidic pH (5.5-6.0) to ensure nutrient absorption. Avoid heavy clay soils as they may retain water for long periods of time, leading to root rot
- Watering
Regular watering is required during the summer, allowing the soil to dry out before watering again. Overwatering during the rainy season and winter can lead to root rot, which is fatal to Bougainvillea plants
- Fertilization
Bougainvillea is a heavy feeder and requires regular fertilization to thrive. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer
- Pruning
Prune regularly to maintain the shape and size of the plant and to promote flowering. Remove any dead or diseased branches
- Pest and disease control
Check the plant regularly for signs of pests and diseases and treat promptly
- Winter protection
Due to its inability to tolerate frost, in cold climates, the plant needs to be moved indoors or protected with mulch during the winter
