Bougainvillea x spectoperuviana 'Lipstick' Special Care or Planting instructions
- Light
Full sun is required, especially during flowering, when high light intensity is required
- Soil
Prefers fertile, well-drained acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.0), and is not suitable for growing in continuously wet soil
- Temperature
Adapted to hot and dry environments, can tolerate temperatures over 100°F, and the minimum temperature at night needs to be at least 65°F and 75–95°F during the day
- Watering
Sensitive to overwatering, irrigation should be adjusted to keep it slightly dry. Plants should not be allowed to dry out completely, but should also be avoided from being too wet
- Fertilization
Use organic fertilizers or controlled-release fertilizers that release nitrogen moderately. When planting, add high-phosphorus fertilizers to the soil. Controlled-release fertilizers are required for long-term cultivation. Avoid overfertilization, as this will promote vegetative growth and inhibit flowering
- Pruning
Prune regularly to prevent overcrowding, promote new growth and flowering. Pruning should be done after flowering to encourage new growth in preparation for the next round of flowering
- Control flowering time
Promote flowering by controlling drought stress and pruning frequency. Too much nitrogen fertilizer and frequent pruning can inhibit flowering.
