Phalaenopsis Plant Features

 

The stem is very short, often wrapped in leaf sheaths; the leaves are slightly fleshy, green on the upper side and purple on the back, oval or oblong, with sharp or blunt tips, and short and wide sheaths; the flower colors are white, red, yellow, purple-red, etc. The petals are rhombus-shaped and round, with round tips, narrowed bases and short claws, and have reticular veins.

  • Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light, but can tolerate medium, indirect light.

  • Water

Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing potting medium to dry out between waterings. If kept in decorative cache planter, pour out excess water after watering. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light.

  • Humidity

Orchids do not like dry air, so be sure to keep humidity around the plant anywhere from 50–70%. During the fall or winter, you can help to boost humidity with a humidifier or wet pebble tray.

  • Temperature

Average home temperature of 65°–75°F. They can tolerate as low as 55°F and as high as 85°F.

  • Repotting

Pruning:

 

When the plant is in bloom, sometimes the phenomenon of the top of the pedicel sagging may occur, and a bamboo pole can be used to support it. For potted Phalaenopsis, iron wire can be used to support it, and the upper part is specially bent so that the flower branches have a certain shape, thereby improving the ornamental value.
