Sansevieria Cylindrica Plant Features
Growth Habit:
Sansevieria cylindrica 'Braided' typically features upright, cylindrical leaves that can grow several feet tall. The leaves are long, rigid, and spiky, and when braided, they form an elegant, vertical design. These plants are often sold as braided specimens, where multiple stems are woven together to create a visually pleasing effect. The braided form gives the plant a more artistic and decorative appearance compared to the straight, unbraided version of the Sansevieria cylindrica.
Leaves:
The leaves of Sansevieria cylindrica 'Braided' are stiff, smooth, and cylindrical in shape. They have a deep green color with faint lighter green or grayish bands running vertically along the length of the leaves. The leaves are arranged in a spiral pattern around the base of the plant, and when braided, they form a spiral or crisscross design that can be quite striking.

Avoid placing it in direct sunlight for long periods, as this can scorch the leaves.
- Water
Sansevieria cylindrica 'Braided' is a drought-tolerant plant and does not require frequent watering. Water only when the top 1–2 inches of soil have dried out. Overwatering is a common cause of root rot in *Sansevieria*, so it's better to underwater than to overwater. During the winter months, reduce watering, as the plant is in a dormant phase.
- Soil
Like other Sansevieria species, this plant prefers well-draining soil. A cactus or succulent mix is ideal, but you can also mix regular potting soil with perlite or sand to improve drainage. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot, which can occur if the plant is kept in soggy soil.
- Temperature
This plant thrives in temperatures between 60–85°F (16–29°C). It is not frost-tolerant, so it should be kept indoors during colder months. Avoid placing the plant in areas with temperature fluctuations, such as near radiators, air conditioners, or drafts.
- Humidity
Sansevieria cylindrica 'Braided' does well in average household humidity. It does not require high humidity to thrive and is very tolerant of dry indoor air. In fact, it can even withstand the drier air found in homes with central heating or air conditioning.
- Fertilizer
Fertilize Sansevieria cylindrica 'Braided' during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer. Fertilizing once a month is usually sufficient. During the fall and winter, reduce or stop fertilizing, as the plant is not actively growing and does not need additional nutrients.
